Paris: Day 1

Bonjour à tous !

As you all know, our program is nearly at its end, which means that we now find ourselves in Paris. Although I would have really liked to make a new post for each of the three days, our busy schedule hasn't really worked in my favor. With that said, I will make three separate posts for each day.

Day 1

As we arrived at Place Robien, the host families and stagiaires shared many a tear before we hopped on the bus and headed in the direction of our final excursion: Paris.

About half way through the trip, we stopped quickly for lunch before continuing on the road. I've included some fun photos from our stop below:

After our quick lunch, we jumped back in the bus and headed to our first stop:

Versailles

This lavish (to an extreme extent, even) palace is best known as the home of Louis XIV, le roi soleil, and is truly an amazing site to see. If you'd like to learn more about the palace, check out the link here!

The main gates of Versailles
The chapel
Almost every ceiling in the palace has a painting similar to this one.
Hall of Mirrors

A group photo in front of the palace!
There was also an interesting art exhibit going on while we were there. Check out some of the pieces:

After a couple hours at Versailles, we hopped back on the bus and headed to Paris and got to experience:

Les bateaux mouches

The bateaux mouches is a very well-known activity that involves taking a boat on the river Seine in order to see the various sights that line the river's edge. Since it was night time, we had the opportunity to pass by the Eiffel Tour just as it lit up. Unfortunately, due to the lack of light, nearly all of the photos we took were either fuzzy or just bad. With that said, here are a couple that turned out:

After our trip on the Seine, we headed back to the hostel to rest up for our first real day in Paris.

I believe that is all for now. I'll be uploading the post for Day 2 shortly, so keep an eye out!

Bonne journée !
